What: Five different sculpts of robot-like aliens with suction cups underneath their bodies. These guys have been around for decades and have been produced in various formats. There have been solid color versions, painted versions, soft rubber versions, hard rubber versions, mini plastic versions and so on.
When: I'd guess these originated in the early 1970s, but different versions have been sold over the years since then.
Where: U.S. (at least). Sold in toy vending machines as well as dime/variety stores, as both single figures and sets

I got these in show bags in the 60s at the Royal Melbourne Show.
