What: Various monsters with holes underneath so they can be put on top of pencils. In the above photos, the gray animal warriors are made of hard plastic while all of the rest of the figures are made of eraser material. In addition to the animal warriors, there are monster heads, a dragon, and probably one of the most bizarre toys I own--a half-horse, half-human guy with wings and a really ghoulish face. They are all marked with "Hong Kong."
When: I got these in the late '80s.
Where: Ironically, considering some of these are incredibly evil-looking/strange (Nazi skull heads, weird man-horse-demon), I remember getting them at a church bazaar.
Who: N/A
Wow! Those things are repulsive, gruesome, horrible, and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAren't they? They're pretty awful in a cool way. I didn't really know what to make out of the winged guy when I was a kid, and I still don't haha
DeleteI have a couple that match the two pics on top. Been meaning to blog about them!
ReplyDeleteHi Eric, thanks for the comment. What's your blog?
DeleteFirst pic left guy: Picked that one up at a flea market (in Germany) and it was sold as a keychain.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever figure out what the top three pictures are? I have a huge lot of them that are pencil erasers also. I can't find anything online about them.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what the name was but they were cheapo toys that would be given away as carnival prizes and stuff. In the '80s and into the early '90s I believe. Another product of the '80s fantasy/sword and sorcerer craze.
DeleteThe top three photos are Galaxy Warriors.
